Safari

The Waterberg mountain range snugly cradles the renowned Mabula Private Game Reserve, which is home to a mosaic of exceptional scenic landscapes as well as an abundance of wildlife species. Game viewing is at its best against a backdrop of rivers, streams and stretches of open vistas. Mammal species include big game such as elephant, lion, white rhino, hippo, leopard and buffalo. African python and the Nile crocodile are also resident in the reserve which is a birdwatchers’ paradise as well.

Day and Night open 4 x 4 Safaris

By far the most popular game activity on Mabula is the 2.5 hour standard game drive.

This drive leaves from your camp, depending on availability from your camp, and may go anywhere on our 10,000 hectare reserve. Any of the big 5 (except the lion) may be sighted on this drive and any other requests such as birds and trees will be catered for as far as possible by your Ranger.

Experience our amazing night life with our skilled rangers. This activity is at an additional cost and is not included in the stay package.

Overnight Horseback Safari Experience

R 3,250.00 per person sharing and R 4,875.00 single

Rates include 2 night’s accommodation including meals; 3 horseback safaris and one open vehicle safari per stay.

Child Policy:  14 years and older are permitted at the lodge, considered as adults and accommodated

 

Activities

On –site activities include the following, however guests have full access to utilise all other activities available at sister lodge Mabula Fame Lodge only 20 minutes including their private airstrip for the comfort a private charter or helicopter transfer.

Horseback Safaris

Experience the African bush with our horseback safaris. Our qualified horse trail guides will take you out on our 10,000 hectare reserve where you can experience our animals up close and personal.

Our guides will go thru all the safety aspects of the trail and will show you all the tricks to be a good rider. It is requested for you to wear long trousers and closed shoes due to the terrain covered by the horse trail.

Guided Bush Walks

This 2.5 hour activity leaves from the Main lodge. Our guides will take you on a walk around our 10,000 hectare reserve, where they will be focusing on our fauna and flora and some of our big 5 animals (excluding lions). Our guides will be equipped with the necessary equipment (rifle, water, first aid kit).

Wear comfortable walking shoes and khaki coloured clothing so you can blend in with the natural environment. No bright colours are allowed.

Departure time:          05h30 (summer) – 06h30 (winter)

Minimum Guests:      02 (without backup)

Maximum Guests:      04 (without back up)

Maximum Guests:      08 (including back up)

Eco Adventure Trails (Quad Bike Safaris) 

Experience the African bush with our quad bike safari. Our qualified guides will take you out on our 10,000 hectare game reserve where you will experience the smaller things found in the bush. Our guides will go through all the safety aspects of the trail. The quad bike trail is a 1.5 hour trail where you spend a half hour on transfers and safety procedures and 1 hour in the bush. We supply the safety gear (helmets) for your trail. Our quad bikes are semi-automatic 250 cc Suzuki bikes, you can either drive manually or in automatic gear.

Guided Star Gazing

This is a 1.5 hour drive. Learn all about the common constellations in our night sky and the myths and legends surrounding them through our Guides. This activity is at an additional cost and is not included in the stay package.

Age restrictions:         Below 3 years not permitted

Frequency:                  Tuesday and Thursday.

Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp offers all the facilities one would expect from a four star tented camp and is well suited for individuals seeking a secluded romantic rendezvous. It is also ideal for a group of close friends or a small board of executives taking over the entire lodge for the duration of their stay.
